Sweet cherries are for eating fresh out of a bowl. Take it from one who grew up on a Michigan fruit farm with acres of cherry trees, both sweet and sour, and a Finnish mom who could bake a mean cherry pie. After Penny reads this, I can forget about cherry pie for desert...I probably won't even get dinner.DKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11507171197660399062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6716138051580994496.post-12262566401600679522011-08-02T06:29:32.576-07:002011-08-02T06:29:32.576-07:00Molly, I would suggest that you hold a pie for bre...Molly, I would suggest that you hold a pie for breakfast event as well. You'll get your touch back for pie making and endear yourself to you friends at the same time. The Inn at Crippen Creek Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05914722083317539769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6716138051580994496.post-23848286067135919872011-07-30T11:24:24.298-07:002011-07-30T11:24:24.298-07:00Vodka? I used combo of butter and lard, but had to go to hispanic markets to find non-hydrogenated lard. Living alone the last few years I fear I've lost the touch for pie crust. MUST get back in the pie habit! Your recipe inspires me. And oh yes, pie for breakfast!molly Glosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04538663804168856632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6716138051580994496.post-20957911111267856662011-07-30T07:52:17.283-07:002011-07-30T07:52:17.283-07:00Penny,

I too think the best pie crust is made with a combination of butter and lard. And I love the picture of the other Dave eating your pie for breakfast. I should mention that he had already consumed your bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and blackberry compote. Love the cherry pictures!Pennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02457380718488241980noreply@blogger.com
